Based on your needs and motivation, I will teach you a personalized yoga, breathing, and/or mindfulness meditation sequence. It's up to you if you want to be guided through an entire yoga practice, or focus on specific poses or practices of interest.
If you're completely new to yoga we can focus on the fundamentals of yoga and help you feel confident to practice at home or in a group class. While if you have already been practicing for some time we can focus on learning a yoga sequence or your technique in specific groups of yoga postures. Personal yoga classes are also a great way to learn how to practice yoga with an injury.
You might also have an interest to become more flexible, stronger, or improve your balance. Or maybe you would like to have a yoga practice designed for you that supports other activities you do—like working behind a desk, running, cycling, or lifting weights.
I will then design a yoga practice for you to help achieve your interest in learning more about a specific style of yoga, work towards strength and flexibility goals, or support other aspects of your life like managing stress and anxiety.
You can choose if you prefer to have a one off class or a series of weekly lessons.
Miriam also offer group private classes if you're looking to connect and have fun with a group of friends, family, or colleagues perhaps celebrating events like birthdays or bachelorettes, sports teams, and team bonding activities for colleagues.
Corporate yoga classes are an important part of a modern company's corporate wellness program. Yoga at work provides a positive return on investment because it keeps your staff both physically and mentally fit.
Miriam offers all private sessions in the Yoga Studio or via Zoom.
Private sessions are great to:
How this works
First, we will have a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to discuss why you are looking to start private yoga lessons, any aches or pains you may be experiencing, and what you hope to get out of our time together. I want to make sure that we are a good match for one another.
Next, we will have your 1-hour session in your home/office, Miriam's home studio or online via Zoom. During our first lesson, we will move through simple and safe postures to assess where you are at and discuss any ailments or discomforts you are experiencing. This will be our focus in the coming weeks.
After the session, we will develop a plan to work together with private yoga sessions that are suited specifically to your body and your schedule.
Cancellation Policy
If you are not able to attend the session you can cancel it free of charge via your account/email/text up to 48 hours before the start time. Cancellation within this 48 hour window will result in a 50% charge and you will be refunded $60 instead of the full $120.

Yang to Yin is a yoga class catered to gentle movement and calming the mind and body. We begin with Hatha Yoga to awaken and gently energize the body. As the class progresses, we transition into the still world of Yin, think Deep Stretch, where the body, already warmed up, can delve into stretches more profoundly and safely. Enjoy a smooth, mellower flow that builds warmth and energy, before releasing into Yin-based postures that cultivate rejuvenation.
Designed to enhance strength and mobility in muscles, joints and deeper connective tissues (fascia), while offering time for you to turn inward. A practice to help release tension, improve circulation, and enliven overall wellbeing in body, mind and spirit.
Perfect for All Levels.
All Miriam's classes are held in school terms, you can purchase a 10-class pack ($175) or attend more casually with a 5-class pass ($95). New students $10 for a trial class. Payment can also be made in cash or direct debit: Miriam Van Doorn BSB: 084 391, account # 920 254 599

Hatha Yoga is the foundation of the physical practices of yoga including Vinyasa/or Flow Yoga. It involves a sequence of asanas (postures) with emphasis on the breath and the mind-body connection. It is practiced more slowly and with more static posture holds than found in styles such as Vinyasa. In this class, we move in + out of poses (asanas) mindfully, with detailed focus on safe alignment + breath (pranayama) while honoring your own individual needs, level of experience and personal limitations. Hatha yoga will allow you to develop ease, comfort, strength, mindfulness + flexibility over time in both mind + body. This is a beautiful class for those who enjoy a slow, and mindful pace.
“Ha” represents sun and “tha” represents moon. This alludes to the opposites in our lives, such as yin and yang, light and darkness, hard and soft, vigorous and gentle. Hatha yoga is about finding balance. Through working with the physical body, releasing tension and trauma stored in the body, you create space in yourself and, through that space and balance, the opportunity for spiritual growth.

Today is the Autumn Equinox, the season is changing, some leaves are falling, there is a crispness in the air as we transition into a quieter, more reflective time. As summer tails into autumn we see the days becoming shorter and the weather cooler.
This time of year is associated with the element of metal – responsible for moving inwards, setting boundaries, developing structure and integrity.
To facilitate reflecting, we will make our own Mala Bead Necklace and use this for our Mantra Meditation practice. Yours to keep and take home!
By incorporating a yin practice in our routine, we can welcome this energetic shift from external to internal focus, embracing more solitude and quiet time. We can also, with the right postures, encourage the free-flowing and harmonious movement of qi though our lung and large intestine meridians.
The lungs and large intestine are responsible for immunity (defending against pathogens) as well as taking in and conserving what we need, while letting go of anything that’s no longer serving us. This energy is all about receiving what we need and letting go of what we don’t (think of trees dropping their leaves). This includes emotional baggage as well as physical matter such as metabolic by-products.

Yoga Sculpt
As we grow older, our bodies undergo a natural decrease in muscle mass, loss of bone density and our balance gets challenged! Incorporating weights into your yoga class can manage and even reverse age-related changes. Honouring our Slow Flow Yoga Class, combining the benefits of yoga with the benefits of strength and resistance training will elevate your practice and your mood! Light weights and resistance bands are used in this class, which you will need to bring yourself to this on-line yoga class. Start with light weights.
The Benefits of Yoga with Weights (especially for Menopause)
Weights & Resistance Bands
For beginners, I recommend starting with three and five-pound hand weights and two to three-pound ankle weights. Resistance bands come in various colors and tensions; I'd suggest beginning with a medium tension strap. (K-mart has cheap options to get you started)
Your very first class
You are most welcome to join even if you haven't purchased your dumbbells yet. This will give you a taste of the class and lets face it, some days we need to take a step back and leave the weights behind and just enjoy the yoga poses! The resistance bands work a treat, though again, you can give them a miss, however you will soon realise how amazing they are!
All levels are welcome, modifications are offered.
Can't attend live?
Don't worry, you will receive a link to the recording of the class which you can have access to for 10 days!
