50-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Prenatal Yoga is about honouring the union of mother and baby, preparing a mother’s body to be strong and flexible so that she and her baby can work together in pregnancy and childbirth to have an empowering birth experience.
This 50-hour accredited course will teach you to assist the mother in her journey through the most transformational, life changing time in her life. Prepare your student’s mind as well as her body by connecting her with her baby and her breath through movement and stillness, flow and balance, strength and surrender, to find her power and embrace her potential.
Learn to teach safe, effective, sensitive and uplifting classes, guiding women into the sacred landscape of their bodies, minds, and hearts, to connect with their babies and to embrace this new phase of their lives.
This comprehensive 4-day training interweaves theory with a holistic, technical, spiritual and practical approach to teaching yoga to pregnant women. This course, taught by Senior Yoga Teacher, highly regarded Birth Doula and Active Birth Educator Miriam Van Doorn will give you the skills and knowledge to confidently and safely teach pre and post-natal yoga in specialised and general classes.

A non-refundable deposit of $300 is required to secure your place in the training. The remaining balance of $950 must be paid in full no later than 30 days prior to the course commencement date. By submitting your deposit, you acknowledge and agree to these terms and conditions. Deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable under any circumstances. Failure to pay the remaining balance by the due date may result in your place being offered to another participant.

Posture & Back Care: teach poses and techniques to improve posture, alleviate back pain and support overall physical wellness.
Teaching accessible Prenatal Classes using the mat, wall, chair, and other props

Support your students beyond the physical. Learn how to introduce pranayama, mudra, mantra and how to meaningfully theme your classes in a way that feels authentic and deeply supportive.

We honour the 4th trimester as a time of healing and transformation, offering both physical recovery tools and emotional support strategies.
Understand the physical and emotional changes after birth and how yoga can gently rebuild strength, stability and balance
Core & Pelvic Floor Recovery: focus on rebuilding the core gently, teach safe practices for diastasis recti, incorporate pelvic floor exercises and know when to refer to other professionals
Safe Postnatal Yoga Poses: learn which poses breastfeeding mums should avoid, how to teach for sore backs or weak cores and how to include breastfeeding counterpose. Meeting the new me, rebuilding strength, restoring the core, and reconnecting
Mum & Bubs Yoga: learn how to hold classes for mothers with their babies present in the room.
Holistic postpartum practices & traditional healing approaches
Navigating matrescence (the becoming of a mother)
Learn how to create a supportive, inclusive space where mothers feel seen, heard, and held. We’ll focus on the art of space holding and how to cultivate connection and trust within your classes.

You will be able to confidently teach a Pregnancy Yoga Class/Course, a Postnatal Yoga Class/Mother & Baby (Mums & Bubs) Yoga Class incorporating breath, relaxation, sound, contemplation and asana.
Teach a well-rounded yoga class that honour's a women's mind and body at this special and sacred time.
Integrate yoga props into your classes and one to ones to make them more bespoke.
Adapt the class for those with injuries and/or common ailments such as lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain, low/high blood pressure and fatique.
Have a clear understanding of why it is important to incorporate all elements of yoga into a class.
Have the knowledge of what actually happens to the body during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
Have an understanding of how different culture's view women in pregnancy and birth throughout the ages and why this is relevant to teaching yoga today.
Insight into spiritual process of a teacher and how it allows us to hold the space for students with more integrity.
Know how to host an Active Birth Workshop, preparing mum to be and birthing partner for birth, exploring how the labouring person might want to move, position and breathe, and how the birth partner can play an active role in encouraging different techniques, employing massage, acupressure, working with pain in labour, and more.

PREREQUISITES
To attend this training, participants need to be a trained yoga teacher (min. 200-hour) or currently training to be a yoga teacher.
CERTIFICATION
This 50-hour course is registered with Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance YACEP approved training course.
